Faati Juli 2005 - October 11, 2006

Faati came to our home together with her 6 friends, Hashim, Jahimi, Nadira, Qabas, Sahir and Tifla. She was a very friendly albino girl. We used to put a dab of red food colouring in her neck so we could immediately identify all our 5 albino girls. Faati and her friends had ended up in a German shelter where no one wanted to adopt them. The rat club heard of the situation and rescued them. The first 5 months they lived with Ursi and in May 2006, they came to live with us. Shortly after the adoption I discovered a little fast growing lump on Faati's arm. We had it removed, it grew back. After the third surgery, we had the lump tested. The result was bad news: Sarcoma. We knew then that Faati would probably not have a very long time to live. She was happy and never showed a sign of illness or uneasiness. The lumps on her arm and the 4 surgeries did not stop her for a minute. She was determined to be happy :) Three weeks after the last surgery, we found blood in the bedding and discovered a tumor prolaps on Faati. The tumor had fallen out of her vagina and was attached to the intestines. We decided to not let her go thru such invasive surgery but helped her over the Rainbow Bridge before the sarcoma could make her life miserable. She enjoyed every minute of her stay with us and had a peaceful, painless death on my hand. She even bruxed and stretched her little arm when I scritched her jaw for the last time.

Faati, I will always remember you, brave little fighter rattie.

Faati's quirks:

Very friendly and loving
Great hunter of little bits of paper
Licked your fingers as a greeting
Did not remove all stitches at once after surgery
Loved her rat family
When in heat, did huge jumps and vibrated her entire body
Liked to sit in a pile of other rats
