Callisto December 04th, 2001 - January 11th, 2004

When Callisto turned three years old on December 04th, 2003, we thought she'd live forever. Callisto has led a very long sheltered life. She was loved since she was a little baby rat and until her companion Charon died - 12 days before her death - she'd always lived with other rats. Most of her life Callisto spent with her friend Nemesis. The two grew up together. On July 12th, 2003, Callisto and Charon found a new home with us. I fell in love with Callisto immediately. Callisto had already successfully survived three tumor operations but when new tumors grew at the age of over 2.5 years, we decided not to let her have surgery again. It was difficult to anaesthetise her, since her breathing was a bit forced. The tumors grew and one day Callisto gave up and we helped her to the bridge. It broke my heart..

Callisto's quirks:

	Started a new life when she came living with us. Daily exercise necessary!
	Great stasher, I think she did it for Charon.
	Callisto always licked people's hands. She made friends very easily.
	Discovered the secret of eternal youth.
	Very dominant and had a must-clean-Charon-obsession.
	Loves the sound of shredding newspaper. Especially at night.
	Loudest rat when threatened to be introduced to other rats. Scream Queen. No doubt about it.
	Callisto invented the checkpoints. Whenever she left the cage, she stopped at the same places and gazed around.
	Took another great chunk out of my poor heart when she died.
