Charon May 2001 - December 30th, 2003

Charon had been saved from a petstore in the summer of 2001. He and 4 of his brothers had been too old to sell (3-6 months!). My brother ended up adopting Charon and his elder brother Hades. Charon lived in a group of rats all his life. When everybody died except Callisto, we decided to take the two oldsters in. So on July 12th, 2003, Callisto and Charon came to live with us. They even took their rat castle with them, since Shrek and Fenrir did not need any more introductions.

Charon suffered from bumblefoot and obesity in the latter part of his life. We could treat the bumblefoot, but then he got hindleg paralysis. He gradually lost weight and all of a sudden he displayed clear symptoms of respiratory distress. After having given Charon a great home for 6 months, we helped him to the bridge as the end of 2003.

Charon, we miss you.

Charon's quirks:

	Very shy rat, never really warmed to humans.
	Happy when eating.
	Ideal cushion for Callisto.
	Very brave when needed - he got attacked by Fenrir once and really told him off.
	Really vocal when being powergroomed by Callisto.
	Left the cage once in all his time with us. Accidentally dropped off the lowest shelf and found himself outside - very bewildering experience for Charon..
