Jahimi - August 2005 - September 29, 2007

After a week of confusion and mounting unease, we decided to help our beloved Jahimi over the Bridge today. Last Thursday, Jahimi seemed to have suffered a stroke and got steadily worse over the following week. Jahimi leaves behind her sister Tifi, the last of the 7 ladies who joined us in May 2006. Jahimi was the most active, inquisitive and intelligent rattie you can imagine. Always on the move, always ready to find something new. She was also a very dominant rattie and had a habit of grooming herself obsessively. She loved to gnaw our wallpaper and chase me whenever I tidied the uebercage. I will miss her little friendly face so much. In fact she already said goodbye a week ago, when her manner changed so drastically. I will always remember her as the active, independant little rascal she was. Farewell, little one, may you rest in peace.

Jahimi's quirks:

Active. With a big A. She loved to play like a cat, chasing little bits of paper on a string.
Always on the lookout for her beloved yoghurt drops. I swear she could tell when I opened a drawer or the kitchen door.
Dominant but not mean, she made it clear she is Alpha but submitted to Tifi's grooming excesses.
Kept us on our toes most nights, when we had to get her away from the wallpaper. Kaboom taught her this.
Jahimi liked to groom and scratch herself. I don't think I've ever seen her without a scab in her entire life, despite of her being mite and parasite free.
Avid helper with the cage cleaning. You had to be very careful not to catch her in one of her moods, or you'd get firmly nipped.
