Sahir probably Spring 2005 - December 20, 2006

Sahir joined us with her rat family - Faati, Hashim, Jahimi, Nadira, Qabas and Tifla - in May 2006. She had ended up in a shelter in Germany where she did not get adopted out because she was aggressive. Ursi took the entire crew in and after 5 months in her place, the 7 ratties came to me. Sahir was not aggressive at all. She did try to nip your toes or fingers if you were not fast enough but that was not out of spite but more because she was a curious, cheeky girl. Sahir was a huge rat, almost as big as a male, she had the most beautiful coat, agouti-white soft shiny fur. She did suffer from lung problems all her life and in the end they got so bad we had to help her over the bridge. She also had two tumors that were growing but the main problem were the severly damaged airways. Despite her illness, she loved hopping around the apartment and she certainly loved food. Sahir was a very social rat, always sitting next to other ratties and enjoying their company. She used to crawl under much smaller rats asking to be groomed. Sahir was very fit until the last few days of her life and I was sad to see her go but still I am very happy that she had such a great time with us and gave us so much love in return.

Sahir, my big Butzi, you will live on in my heart.

Sahir's quirks:

Loved her food
Curious curious curious - she had to know everything
Great nipper of toes and fingers when roaming the apartment
Totally friendly with other rats, loved ratty company
The most beautiful fur colour, this rich brown-red-gold agouti
Twinkly, slightly slit dark eyes that really expressed her feelings
